Yellow Brick Road uses Creative Curriculum©
We use this program as a blueprint for planning and implementing a developmentally appropriate program. The philosophy behind this curriculum is that young children learn best by doing. Learning requires active thinking, experimenting, and exploring using all senses to determine how things work. Its effectiveness helps children acquire social competence and the skills needed to succeed as learners.
Our goal is to help children become independent, self-confident, inquisitive learners.
We encourage children to be active and creative explorers who are not afraid to try out new ideas and think their own thoughts. The activities we plan, how we organize the environment, select toys and materials, plan the daily schedule, and talk with children, are all designed to enhance the children’s social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development and give your child a successful start in school.
We leverage technology to provide the best possible experience.
Yellow Brick Road uses the HiMama app to reduce teacher paperwork and increase teacher time with children. It provides a way for teachers to share pictures and videos with parents throughout the day and chronicle each child’s journey from infant to pre-k.
Infant (6 weeks – 12 months)
Student-Teacher Ratio: 4:1
Monthly Rate: $1,135 for regular hours; or $1,245 for extended hours
In 1998, Yellow Brick Road established a new Infant I classroom for 8 babies. This program ranges from ages six weeks to twelve months old. The teachers work with these infants to establish regular sleeping and eating patterns. They use “Creative Curriculum Teaching Strategies” to plan their lesson each week and provide appropriate toys for education, teething, and entertainment.
Toddlers (12 – 24 months)
Student-Teacher Ratio: 4:1
Monthly Rate: $1,070 for regular hours; $1,180 for extended hours
Our Toddler class provides a stimulating and fulfilling environment, supporting the young child’s need for exploration and emerging drive for independence. “Creative Curriculum,” approved by the Virginia Department of Education, offers developmentally appropriate lessons and activities that support active learning and promote children’s progress in all developmental areas, encouraging them to become lifelong learners.
Twos (2 – 3 years)
Student-Teacher Ratio: 4:1
Monthly Rate: $1,015 for regular hours; $1,125 for extended hours
YBR offers a developmentally appropriate based preschool program for two-year-old children. Creative Curriculum is approved by the Virginia Department of Education. Children choose activities in centers designed to help them learn social and academic skills. Children concentrate on being independent by building self-help skills, learning to share, listening to stories, developing their fine motor and gross motor skills through simple projects, and being members of a caring community of classmates.
Pre-K (3+ years)
Student-Teacher Ratio: 10:1
Monthly Rate: $930 for regular hours; $1,030 for extended hours
This classroom participates in a kindergarten readiness program following Creative Curriculum that includes circle time, table time, and center time. The children are guided by their teachers as they develop the skills needed to be enthusiastic readers when they enter kindergarten. Each class has special learning centers where children can work alone or in groups to develop math, pre-writing, pre-reading, fine motor, and gross motor skills.

Your monthly fee is the same each month regardless of school closings or days your child is absent. The fe you pay is based on an annual average number of days.
All fees are due by the 1st of the month. Invoices for the next months will be emailed five days prior to the current months. A $40 late fee will be charged if tuition is not paid by the 7th. If tuition is not paid by the 15th, the child cannot return on the 16th. All fees must be paid before your child can return to Yellow Brick Road. There will be a 1.5% per month interest charge on any outstanding balances. There are no payment plans and parents risk losing their child’s space.
